Chef Brock’s Tasting Menu Offers A Treat For More Than Just The Palate

June 22, 2006, Charleston, S.C. – McCrady’s Restaurant has introduced a new Chef’s Tasting Menu as an addition to the regular and highly regarded dinner menu. Diners now have the option of ordering from the acclaimed main menu or selecting Executive Chef Sean Brock’s new nine-course culinary showcase of form and flavor.

“The Chef’s Tasting Menu entertains diners with familiar flavors presented in surprising and playful ways,” explains Chef Brock. “Each of the nine courses is a new and different dining adventure, so it’s a great change of pace for diners looking something other than the typical three- or four-course meal. And it’s the perfect choice for gourmets or anyone with a serious interest in food.”

This is definitely not a traditional tasting menu. Spanning nine courses, some as small as one or two bites, the Chef’s Tasting Menu is a carefully constructed culinary tour of unique textures, whimsical presentations and unexpected temperatures. It begins with appetizer courses designed to wake up the senses, then explores vegetables, starches, meats and seafoods before ending with dessert.

The focus here is not on exotic ingredients – in fact, all of the flavors will be familiar to most diners. Instead, the adventure is in the presentation, where these familiar components and flavors are offered in the most unexpected of ways.

Imagine smoked salmon spaetzle (that’s spaetzle made from smoked salmon, not just served with it) or foie gras powder. These are things most of us would never think of. But Chef Brock and his talented and creative team are in the kitchen every night, dreaming them up for us. And those looking for even more adventure can add the Chef’s course-by-course beverage pairings.

The nine-course prix fixe Chef’s Tasting Menu is available every night, and may be ordered for the table or by the individual.
