McCRADY'S STARTS SECOND PHASE OF HISTORIC RENOVATION

Restaurant Will Be Closed for Five Days Next Week As Project Begins

January 3, 2007, Charleston, S.C. - McCrady's will be closed for five days next week as the new owners embark on the second phase of a sweeping renovation of the historic restaurant. McCrady's owners recently completed an extensive and loving renovation of the historic Long Room private dining space, returning this elegant room to the breathtaking grandeur of its 18th Century origins.

Now the focus shifts to the main dining room. "The ownership and management of McCrady's are absolutely committed to providing our valued guests with the finest food and wine in Charleston," said McCrady's Principal Tony Bakker, "and to doing so in an atmosphere that is not only historic but also truly memorable and first class."

The restrooms have already been remodeled, and upgraded lighting, new seating and dramatic new artwork are already in place. The restaurant will be closed from Sunday, January 7 through Thursday, January 11 to accommodate the repair and refinishing of the hardwood floors. In the months ahead, an elevator will be installed to improve access to the Long Room.

McCrady's Lounge + Wine Bar, with its entrance on East Bay, will close on Sunday, January 7 for several months. It will reopen in the spring as an additional dining room and private event space. This cozy and exciting new room will feature a charming fireplace, embossed tin ceilings, original exposed brickwork and mahogany paneling. While this space is closed, Unity Alley will be the only entrance to McCrady's.

McCrady's main bar, off the Unity Alley entrance, will be enhanced too. When complete, it will feature a new cocktail seating area and a climate-controlled display cellar for the restaurant's award-winning wine list, both highlighted by authentic flickering gas lanterns. The bar will open for cocktail service daily at 5:00 PM.
